For parents and players

Practice that really counts.

Allegrow is a music practice app with a timer that only runs while someone is actually playing. Children see what to work on and how the week is going; parents see it at a glance. It’s free to practice with. This page walks through everything it does.

What it is

It started at our house. Set the kitchen timer for thirty minutes, head into the music room, come out when it rings. Practice was “done” – but most of that time hadn’t been spent playing. So we built a timer that knows the difference, and it grew from there.

Today it’s a practice timer, a metronome and tuner, music theory games, and a page where a parent sees the week. If your teacher uses Allegrow, their assignments and lesson times show up in it too. If they don’t, everything still works.

The practice timer

What your child sees

What you see

Your own page shows each child’s week: minutes, days practiced, and how that compares with the plan. No music background needed.

With a teacher, or without

Your teacher uses Allegrow

They send an invite: a link, or a sheet with a code to scan. Open it, sign in once, and confirm it’s your child. Assignments and lesson times appear from then on, and your teacher can see how practice is going. You decide what’s shared, and you can disconnect at any time.

Your teacher doesn’t

Nothing is missing from the practice side. You set the plan yourself, and you can add your own practice tasks with Family Plus. If your teacher starts using Allegrow later, connecting keeps everything you have.

A child with two teachers, or two instruments, has both in the same place.

Devices

Practicing on your own

Adults and older teens can use Allegrow by themselves. Choose Just me when you start, or later in Settings. The app then opens to your own page, with no PIN and nothing about parents or children: your week, your plan, Practice now.

Family Plus

Practicing is free and stays free. Family Plus is an optional extra for families who want more.

Getting started

  1. Open allegrowmusic.com/app and choose who it’s for: your child or family, or just you.
  2. Sign in with Google or an email address, so practice is saved to your account and follows you to any device.
  3. Add your child and answer a few questions: what they play, how long a practice day should be, how many days a week.
  4. If they’ll practice on their own device, add it from your page with a code. If their teacher sent an invite, open it.
  5. Press Start and play.

What it costs

Practicing is free: the timer, the metronome and tuner, the first levels of the theory games, the last 30 days of history, and everything your teacher sends.

Family Plus is optional: free for a month with no card, then $3 a month or $29 a year, and included at no charge when your teacher is on a paid Allegrow plan.
